Humpty House

A contemporary family home and architecture practice

Our very own family home and Building Workshop’s Drawing Office overlooking the Loch of Lintrathen

Our award-winning family home and architecture practice is situated in the woods above the beautiful Loch of Lintrathen. The building is a 21st-century interpretation of a traditional rural agricultural structure - traditional in form, yet built with contemporary materials. We designed every element of the building from the enormous shutters to the the staircase and kitchen handles.

  • We are thrilled that our home has received various awards including a RIAS Award, the DIA Supreme Award, Angus Council Home of the Decade and was featured in BBC’s series Scotland’s Home of the Year.

We designed Humpty House to be flexible and adaptable, to meet the changing needs of family and work life. The ground floor is largely open plan with connecting spaces which allow us to enjoy sunrise, sunset and all of the light in between, year round. Large windows frame the views of the loch, deer grazing and red squirrels playing in the oak trees.

The Drawing Office has long wide oak floor boards, exposed agricultural style steel and pendant lights hanging over a long work bench. We use the space between the kitchen and the Drawing Office for all sorts of activities, from playing toy farms on a rainy day, to hosting design meetings or charity supper clubs or watching a film on a projector.
